I actually started CS Scents almost by accident.

I’ve always loved lighting candles. There’s something about walking into a room that smells amazing and instantly makes it feel more cosy, relaxing and like home.

But I started noticing something I couldn’t quite understand. Almost every morning, I’d wake up with a stuffy nose or a sore throat. At first, I didn’t think much of it. Then I started wondering whether the candles I was burning every day could have something to do with it.

So, I started researching.

The more I looked into what goes into many of the candles and home fragrances available on the market, the more surprised I became. I discovered that many candles are made using paraffin wax, a petroleum-derived wax, and that some fragrance formulations can contain ingredients such as parabens and phthalates, which have raised concerns around prolonged exposure.

That was the point where I started asking myself: is there a better way to enjoy home fragrance?

I wanted to create something that still gave me that beautiful, luxurious scent I loved, but with ingredients I felt much more comfortable having in my home — around myself, my family and my pets.

And that’s where CS Scents began.

I spent weeks, and eventually months, researching raw materials, testing different options and searching for suppliers who shared the same values. I wanted to find waxes and fragrances with cleaner formulations, while also making more responsible choices wherever possible when it came to sustainability and the environment.

I didn’t just want to focus on the wax either.

From the wax and fragrances, to the wicks, jars and packaging, I’ve tried to carefully consider every part of the products I create. Where possible, I choose materials that are vegan-friendly, cruelty-free, more sustainable and made without ingredients I wanted to avoid.

Everything is hand-poured in small batches, right here at CS Scents, with a lot of care and a lot of research behind it.

CS Scents was born from something really simple: my love of candles, and my desire to find a better way to enjoy them.

I wanted beautiful home fragrance without having to compromise on the things that matter to me — quality, transparency, sustainability and feeling comfortable with what I’m bringing into my home.

And that’s exactly what I hope to share with you through CS Scents. 🤍
